Another Successful Year for Baton Rouge Pride.

BR Pride FestThe Baton Rouge Pride Festival held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 was nothing short of a true celebration.  The Festival was moved  this year to a larger space  in the Baton Rouge River Center, hosted 70 plus resource fair participants, and was packed full of entertainment with acts such as Princess Kutt, the Krewe of Divas, and the Pocket Brass Band.  Festival goers started pouring into the center at 1pm and were eager to celebrate the day, show off their rainbow colors, and for another year create this melting pot of education and fun that Baton Rouge Pride has done so well at .  The traffic and rainy weather didn’t seem to deter people from around the State from coming to show their support for the LGBT Community and to Baton Rouge Pride as the crowds were steady all afternoon long.  DSC_0076

While most festivals are heavy on entertainment, the Baton Rouge Festival although not lacking in entertainment, has a real gem in it’s resource fair.  The array of businesses from around the State that represent the community, hand out information, and bring awareness to people about causes, products, and services, is truly a gift.  Likewise, the community’s genuine interest in the businesses and organizations that participate is encouraging as society has become so reliant on the ease of the internet.  The face to face with a potential consumer for a business and the interested face to face from a consumer with a business is priceless and marketing genius.

This year, Tom Merrill, chairman of Baton Rouge Pride, Inc., and the entire team built on the successes of previous year’s and added an after hours party with the Austin Babtist Women, DJ Cameron Kelly, and up and coming New Orleans musician Mia Borders.  The after party gave festival goers a chance to unwind, reflect on a great day, and enjoy music, food, and a few cocktails.  The entertainment and after party was a bullseye and added another success for this Festival.  _DSC0082
